In which y/x proves to be less than enough.
My previous post about the course I’m teaching, here, was all about immersion and experience. Good stuff, but now that I’ve immersed my students, it falls to me to help them climb back out.

My students are great. They’re accomplished grownups who have worked hard to master other things before, and though some of them feel lost I think they know they can master this. They know the slope equation, and they know they need to apply it and apply it and apply it until it’s second nature, a tool they use so often they don’t even notice it’s there. In this game the only skills that count are transferable skills.
